Green Valley Garden Centre was founded in 1992 by the late Mr Amos Lufuno Thabela. Mr Thabela was passionate about creating homely gardens... so much that he made his home a landscaping wonder.

In Vhembe region, Mr Thabela made Green Valley a household brand. With the help of his wife (Julia), and children (Mulalo, Tendani and Masha), Mr Thabela designed most gardens in Thohoyandou and its surroundings. To date, people in Vendaland know that Green Valley Garden Centre is still their one-stop-shop for their plants. In 2018, the nursery was revitalized and relaunched as a fully-fledged garden centre. Our garden centre proudly grows 90% of plants on-site, ensuring high quality at affordable prices.

The remainder of our stock is sourced from emerging growers and reputable nurseries across the region—supporting local enterprise and biodiversity. Green Valley sells plants ranging from fruit trees, palms, shrubs, daisies to cycads, and many more. In Tshakhuma, Mr Thabela was known for his deeper need to empower his community. As a result, most people who work and manage the nursery come from Tshakhuma.
